Handball

8 March 2016

Year 5 and 6 children from Winmarleigh and Bleasdale joined forces to take part in a handball coaching session at Garstang Community Academy. They received coaching in the skills required to play handball and this was followed by the opportunity to try out their skills in two games. Although there was no time for every team to play against each other, and so no overall winner, our team won both their games.

The rules of handball are similar to basketball, played with a smaller ball. The main difference is that points are gained by throwing the ball into the opponents goal (we used crash mats as the targets). Handball is very popular in northern and eastern Europe and is a great game.
