Creative Writing Winners

4 March 2016

Two pupils from Winmarleigh School are celebrating winning prizes in a national story writing competition run by Arthouse. The competition was open to children aged 4-11 years and was designed to inspire and to encourage creative thinking by asking children to base stories on the  Arthouses imagine fun collection of wallpaper.

The competition was judged by children’s authors Harriet Goodwin and Linda Chapman, interior designer Sophie Conran and was endorsed by Jacqueline Wilson.

Hundreds of entries were received nationwide from counties ranging from Sussex, Herefordshire, Lancashire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Jorja (Year 4) was awarded a runner up prize for her story 'The Golden Unicorn'. Emily (Year 6) won one of the main prizes for her story ‘Don’t Bug Me’ including being chosen for publication in ‘The Little Book of Imagination’.
