Children had the chance to explore the life of Florence Nightingale through artifact handling and costume.
Through role-play children they imagined what it was like to be a nurse in The Crimean War, nursing the sick and wounded and even keeping Scutari hospital clean.
The class looked at what Florence Nightingale wore and the uniform of a soldier, and learn about how paths of these two people crossed.
They also found out about the medicines and medical instruments available to doctors during The Crimean War and sketched them.
