Our Approach to SEND

At Winmarleigh Church of England Primary School, inclusion is everyone's responsibility. Through careful planning, strong communication and positive partnerships between home, school and external professionals, we aim to provide an inclusive and enriching educational experience for every child.

As a small school, we know our children exceptionally well. This enables us to identify strengths, recognise potential barriers to learning and respond quickly to individual needs. Where additional support is required, our whole team works collaboratively to ensure that appropriate adaptations, reasonable adjustments and targeted interventions are put in place, allowing every child to access learning and participate fully in school life.

We have high aspirations for all our pupils and believe that every child can enjoy, believe and achieve. We support children to make strong progress from their individual starting points by working closely with families and engaging with professionals from Education, Health and Social Care to ensure the right support is in place at the right time.

Using the graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review, we carefully monitor and evaluate the impact of our provision to ensure support remains purposeful, effective and responsive to each child's needs. This cyclical process enables us to develop provision that may focus on overcoming barriers to learning, developing independence, promoting emotional wellbeing, building life skills or accelerating academic progress.

Our staffing, resources and provision are reviewed regularly to reflect the changing needs of our pupils. Additional funding is used strategically to provide personalised support, specialist resources and bespoke opportunities for children with the highest levels of need. We also work proactively with a range of external agencies and specialists to ensure that evidence-based practice is at the heart of our provision.

Above all, we strive to create a school community where every child feels valued, supported and empowered to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." (Ephesians 2:10)
